Department of Accounting - Mission & Objectives
The Mission of the Department of Accounting at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University is to provide a high quality learning experience in accounting education, which effectively recognizes, appreciates, and responds to the abilities and backgrounds of a diverse student population. The academic and related programs of the Department are designed to provide students with the technical skills and ethical values required for a variety of accounting and business careers. These programs also provide opportunities for the development of the communication, analytical, and technological skills required for lifelong learning and competitive performance in a diverse and global economic environment. The Department’s primary emphasis is teaching/learning with secondary and correlated emphases on research and service.
This mission is supported by the following goals:
- To attract and maintain a diverse student population whose backgrounds and experiences enhance their collective education experience.
- To maintain a strong faculty cadre whose prior academic preparation and experiences are appropriately maintained through faculty development, professional interaction, research, teaching, and service.
- To provide students with extracurricular opportunities which enhance their leadership, social, communications, and group skills.
- To support student efforts to obtain practical experience and permanent employment opportunities.
