Accounting Program Curriculum
The Department of Accounting offers a single undergraduate degree program leading to the Bachelor of Science with a major in accounting. The undergraduate accounting program is accredited by the AACSB International – The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.
- Students majoring in Accounting must complete a minimum of 127-semester hours consistent with the curriculum guide
- Accounting majors must earn a minimum grade of “C” in UNST 110, 221, Math 111, 112 and BUED 360, ACCT 221, ECON 305, BUAD 481 and BUAD 520.
- Accounting majors must also earn a minimum grade of “C” in the 10 (30 hours) courses listed as major program requirements for accounting in the applicable University Bulletin
Students completing the undergraduate degree program in accounting are qualified for a wealth of accounting, finance, and management-related positions with professional services firms, manufacturing firms, and with governmental and not-for-profit organizations. Students desiring to obtain the CPA certificate in states requiring 150 hours of education are encouraged to pursue a dual major or the Master of Science in management degree program with a systems concentration. Students pursuing this option may structure their program to meet the education requirements necessary for certification in most jurisdictions.
